About the Artist
Viktor is a Berlin-based artist whose work explores the tension between structure and intuition. With a background in theoretical physics, his practice is informed by abstract thinking, yet grounded in emotional and bodily experience. Working primarily with color and gesture, his paintings investigate states of vulnerability, perception, and inner movement. Rather than illustrating specific narratives, the works remain open, allowing meaning to emerge through the viewer’s own associations.
The works presented here were created between 2023 and 2025. They focus on the human figure as a point of departure rather than a fixed subject. The figures emerge from a mixture of memory, imagination, personal encounters, and photographic references. The moment of beginning a work is central to my practice. In that instant, a singular constellation unfolds — alive only in the present. Each figure carries a history, desires, fears, and an awareness of its own situation. These elements shape a transient state of being that exists only here and now, irreproducible in its nuances. While working, I attempt to enter into resonance with this state. Music accompanies the process, intensifying perception and emotional tone. Words move internally alongside the image and are sometimes added afterward. What appears in the work is therefore not an objective depiction of another person, but my own perception and interpretation. In this way, something initially diffuse becomes tangible. The act of painting becomes a form of reflection — an expression of experience that could not be articulated through language alone. What truly unfolds within another person remains unknowable. What remains is an intuition, a belief that what I sense within myself may correspond to something within the other. In this belief, a moment of connection becomes possible.
